Koru Community Dance theatre is a community based company located in Oamaru, New Zealand.

We promote African inspired contemporary tribal dance and music, as well as traditional west African rhythms and dances.

Koru has a strong, but entirely voluntary, performance component in order to share the joy with the wider community.

• To bring spice and colour to the larger community through public performances.

Koru Community Dance Theatre offers general community drumming and dance classes and the opportunity to be part of a community dance troupe. We also offer drum and dance workshops to schools and workplaces.

Koru is forming a network of drummers and other percussion musicians from around this area, and throughout New Zealand, and looks forward to being able to attract guest drummers and dancers to Oamaru for workshops and performances.
